Reviews are less in scope than an audit but more than a compilation. A review consists of inquiries of management and the application of analytical procedures applied to financial data.

A review is appropriate for entities that need a higher level of assurance, but for which an audit is not necessary. Sometimes a contract will require a review, and construction contractors often need a review for bonding purposes.
